PEDAGOGY OF RESISTANCE

Equipping educators to resist systems of injustice through their teaching practice in order to create joyful, just, and equitable classrooms.

We aim to disrupt teaching and learning conditions that uphold systems of oppression. By designing curriculum that thoughtfully centers BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and other historically marginalized people and by leveraging our teaching practice as a tool for transformative change, we are enacting a pedagogy of resistance.

Pedagogy of Resistance (formerly Lit C.I.R.C.L.E.) is committed to supporting educators by providing FREE social justice-focused curriculum resources that center the voices and experiences of those that have been traditionally silenced and erased in classrooms.

Trainings and Workshops

“Through Pedagogy of Resistance, Brieana organizes, facilitates, and creates the most thoughtful professional spaces, collaboration, and curriculum resources I have ever seen. Her lens of anti-racism and meaningful student-centered experiences is what we need more of everywhere in our profession.”

“Pedagogy of Resistance is not only providing me with valuable English class-based insights with regards to equity and being an anti-racist teacher, but it is also helping me to frame what it means to do this work while not physically present with my students”

— James Ratti, 10th grade World Lit & AVID teacher in Cupertino, CA

“My involvement with Pedagogy of Resistance has given me the tools and confidence to make immediate, impactful changes in my curriculum and this community of educators has provided me a safe space to grow as both and individual and as an educator as we work to shift the narrative.”

— Lauren Wozniak, 9th & 10th grade ELA Teacher in Chicago, IL

This project was born from the need to make curriculum and teaching resources centering people of color and marginalized communities readily accessible to all educators in an effort to diversify the literary canon. For this reason, all curriculum created by Pedagogy of Resistance is available for free download with an optional donation. Your donations allow this project to continue to grow and operate sustainably in service of teachers, and ultimately of students.
